Hello colleagues. My name is Tetsuya Kobayashi. I am the chairman of the World Veterinary Cancer Congress (WVCC). The Tokyo 2020 WVCC was postponed due to COVID-19 and will now be held in Tokyo in 2024. We would like to express our gratitude to the WVCC International Organization for giving us the opportunity to once again hold the conference in Tokyo, Japan. As Chairman of the WVCC Committee, I would like to share the highlights of our program.
The WVCC will be held over 4 days from March 21-24, 2024. The first 3 days will feature approximately 100 research abstracts from dozens of countries around the world. There will be 9 keynote lectures by specialists from many different countries. Most of the research abstracts are clinically oriented, so general practitioners, as well as researchers and specialists should enjoy the lectures. All lectures will be in English; however, the keynote lectures will have simultaneous Japanese translation. The 4th day will entail an international symposium. We will have in-depth discussions on canine lower urinary tract cancer in the morning and
canine histiocytic sarcoma in the afternoon. There will be a panel of experts and up-and-coming Japanese researchers with vast knowledge of cancer biology and treatment. On the 1st and 2nd nights, we also organized evening seminars by well-known specialists (with simultaneous Japanese translation).
We have also planned several other conference activities. There will be a Welcome Party on the first day and a Wine & Cheese Party on the second day, where you can taste a wide variety of Japanese wines and cheeses carefully selected by the Executive Committee in cooperation with the New Otani Hotel. The Closing Event will be at "The Cherry Blossom Viewing" restaurant in the garden of the New Otani Hotel, where people can enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms while enjoying delicious food. And don't forget your running shoes! We have planned a "Walk & Run" at the Imperial Palace on the morning of March 22. For those with young children, we have arranged daycare to make it easier to attend the conference (reservations required).
Thanks to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Tokyo has been transformed into a foreigner-friendly city. Although you may have heard that prices are high in Japan, Japan ranks 65th out of 78 countries in the world for the McDonald's Big Mac Index, which compares Big Mac prices worldwide (The Economist-Big Mac Index 2023). In addition to the New Otani Hotel, there are many inexpensive and safe business hotels in Tokyo for around $100.00-150.00 US per night. Finally, we were able to reduce the registration fee considerably thanks to the many sponsors of this meeting.
The Executive Committee members, including Dr. Takuo Ishida, the Chairman of the JVCS, are working hard to ensure that all who attend the Tokyo WVCC 2020 conference will experience excellent hospitality (o-mo-te-na-shi), culminating in a transformative experience. We look forward to your participation in this exciting meeting.

皆様、こんにちは。World Veterinary Cancer Congress（WVCC）実行委員長の小林哲也です。WVCC in Tokyo 2020年がCOVID-19の影響で延期となりましたが、2024年に東京で開催することが決定しました。東京での開催の機会を再度与えてくださったWVCC国際組織の皆様に感謝の気持ちを表すとともに、世界獣医がん学会が日本で開催できることを大変嬉しく思います。それでは、WVCC Tokyo委員会委員長として、2024年WVCCのプログラムのハイライトを簡単にご紹介致します。
今回のWVCCは2024年3月21～24日まで、全4日間にわたって開催されます。第1～3日目は世界数十カ国の研究者達による研究発表約100題と、世界で活躍されているスペシャリスト達による基調講演9題を予定しています。研究発表も比較的臨床的な内容が多く、研究者や専門医だけでなく、一般開業医の皆様にも楽しんで頂けると思います。研究発表は英語での発表となりますが、基調講演には、日本語の同時通訳がなされる予定です。第4日目は国際シンポジウムです。午前は犬の下部泌尿器系癌について、午後は犬の組織球性肉腫について、その腫瘍を知り尽くしたレジェンドと新進気鋭の日本の研究者をパネリストにお招きし、徹底的に討論致します。また、3月21日（木)および22日（金）の夜には、著名講師陣によるナイトセミナーも企画しています（日本語の同時通訳あり、パーティー参加券付き）。
学会だけがWVCCの楽しみではありません。初日のウェルカム・パーティーおよび２日目のワイン＆チーズパーティーでは、実行委員がホテルニューオータニと一緒に厳選した日本のワインおよびチーズをたっぷりとご賞味頂けます。クロージングイベントは、ホテルニューオータニの庭園での“Theお花見”を予定しており、美味しいお料理に舌鼓を打ちながら、東京の桜を世界の皆様にご鑑賞頂く予定です。また、22日（金）の朝には皇居ウォーク＆ランを企画していますので、ランニングシューズもお忘れなく。また、子育て中の参加者にも安心して学会に参加できるよう託児所もご用意しています（要予約）。
2020年の東京オリンピックにあわせた開発で、東京は外国人フレンドリーな街に生まれ変わりました。COVID-19が少し落ちついた最近、東京に外国人の姿が多数見られるようになりました。日本の物価は高いと昔はよく言われていましたが、マクドナルドのビッグマックの価格を国際的に比較したビッグマック指数では、日本は世界第65位/78カ国です（The Economist-Big Mac Index 2023）。比較的早めに飛行機の予約をとれば、1,000-1500USドル程度でニューヨークから往復できます。また、東京には、1泊100.00USドルくらいの安価で安全なビジネスホテルを多数見つけることができます。さらに、今回もたくさんのスポンサーからご協力を得ることができたので、登録費をだいぶリーズナブルに抑えることができました。
WVCC 2024 in Tokyoに参加していただく皆様には「おもてなしと感動」を経験して頂くことができるよう、石田卓夫会長をはじめ、実行委員が精進しています。皆様のご参加を、心よりお待ちしています。
